Achievements

Since the founding of Bharat Maurya Sangh in 1979 and Akhil Bhartiya Maurya Mahasangh in 2007, the organization has played a pivotal role in the awakening and reformation of the community.

Officials have travelled all over the country, organized meetings, and formed branches to unite people, enhance mutual co-operation, and work for the upliftment of the masses. Rural India was kept firmly on the radar and encouraged to change with the pace of time. As the country developed, new challenges arose — and the Mahasangh diversified its activities according to the needs of the day. The most remarkable achievements:

01

Eradication of child marriage and the dowry system

Child marriage was long prevalent in backward sections of society, hindering children's education and burdening young parents with responsibilities, large families, and malnutrition. The organization motivated people to recognize these consequences; child marriage has now vanished from the community and dowry has been substantially reduced.

02

Eradication of superstition and blind faith

People had been blind believers in irrational customs — bad spirits, imaginary deities, and exorcism offered to the sick in place of medicine, with posers claiming divine powers extracting hard-earned money. The Mahasangh started a movement teaching people to use their own judgment. Gradually such practices have diminished, and today very few subscribe to these beliefs.

03

Emphasis on education

The Mahasangh has advocated the unbounded contribution of education to personal and social development, holding regular meetings on its virtues and organizing annual programmes — appreciation certificates, books, medals, trophies, and cash prizes for students. Every family has become conscious of educating its children well; community members now occupy high positions across many fields.

04

Propagation of the golden history

The community's once-forgotten history has been restored to it — filling people with hope, honour, and self-confidence. The lives and teachings of Lord Buddha, empire-founder Chandragupta Maurya, and Samrat Ashoka the Great are commemorated with full honour: Buddha Jayanti, Chandragupt Jayanti, Ashok Jayanti, and Ashok Dhamma Vijay Divas draw large audiences each year.

05

Future planning

The development of a community never ends. The Mahasangh is proud that the community has risen to stand at par with others, and it will continue to launch schemes and programmes as the times demand — to reach the peak.
